Five columns of botanical fabric strips, separated by soft ivory bands for a vintage-inspired quilt.

This design uses five patterned columns separated and framed by ivory bands. Choose the role of the ivory first: a quiet background lets the small prints carry the color. Spread darker prints between columns so one column does not become an accidental heavy stripe.
Lay out the complete color order before stacking pieces. Photograph your layout for your own reference and label the top of every column. A directional flower or stem may look different when a strip is rotated.
Many short seams make small variations add up. Check the first assembled column against the PDF measurement before repeating the process. Press without pulling a long column sideways and measure it flat.
If one column differs in length, compare the original cuts, seam widths and pressing. Do not trim all the columns to the shortest one without checking how that change affects the sashing and outer borders.
These notes help you evaluate colors, scale and preparation. They do not replace a complete cutting list or row-by-row recipe.
